You’ll often read statements like, “Limit poker is a mathematical game and no limit poker is a psychological game”. Or “Limit poker is about the cards and no limit poker is about the people”.

Those kinds of statements are pretty much nonsense, made by people who don’t understand mathematics or psychology.

Decision Theory is a branch is a branch of both mathematics and psychology which is applicable to poker of all forms, whether it’s limit or no limit. The differences between the two betting structures are much smaller than many think. There are differences, but those differences just aren’t that profound.
